Modern CAD offers a powerful communication tool between the dentist and the lab. With Exocad, we are able to share our designs with the dentist as a 3D viewable web link. This software is stored server-side, which means that the dentist does not need any special software or account to access the viewer. They can simply click on the email link sent by the lab to view the proposed design on their computer or smartphone. Exocad is a standalone software system, there is no added cost, software installation or partnership/account signup required, a significant advantage over 3Shape systems. For more complicated restorations, this is an invaluable tool for the lab to show the dentist how the restoration will look in the mouth, and allow feedback for any challenges encountered.
